men and women

In my country, the gender roles are changing but in a slow way. We still can see women that don’t work and dedicate her whole life to satisfy the needs of her husband and children.

The majority of the laws in Chile that are about the labor rights are unfair to woman. The law doesn’t regulate that in a lot of cases and for the same job and under the same conditions, a men can make more money than a woman.

Also the woman who works can be discriminated if she is in her fertile age and is trying to get a new job, because if she get pregnant has the right of a time before the birth to rest from work and the boss is obliged to continue paying her salary and can’t fire her.

At home, most of the work is still in women hands, but we can see that in families that both parents work, this labor of cleaning, cooking or taking care of the kids is shared.

Speaking only about the cook, men can be very good in this area, even better than women if they are dedicated and have passion for it.

In Chile and in the entire world, I think that men has a easier life that women, that’s because we’re still living in a world in that all the most powerful charges belong to men, and I think that the equality between men and women it’s not possible because we are in fact different, we have different needs.

My laptop

My favorite piece of technology is my laptop. I got it for my 17th birthday, three years ago. My parents saw me saving money to buy one so they decided gave me one as a present and that way I could spend that money in something else.

I use it every day, mostly to communicate with my friends that are far away from me. I love chatting, make calls by skype or just send mails. It’s very funny and easy. I use it a lot to hear music, watch TV series and movies, read the news and write comments about them in twitter. My laptop is also very useful to the task and the investigation that I have to do for the university classes.

I really like my laptop because was a gift from my parents and it is a very important tool to study and get closer to the people are not near to me. Also is pretty, I stuck a big pink flower on it.

Life without it would be less easy and a little bit boring, also more expensive, because I would have to spend more money on be in touch with my friends and family or to pay for the movies that I see online.

Friends

A really good friend is someone who can make you smile when you're sad, even if he doesn't know why you're like that. Is someone that always gonna be there whenever you need it.
Making friends for me is not too hard, cause I'm a very sociable person, but I count with just one hand my best friends. Unfortunately, they are all far away from me cause they live in Temuco, but here in Santiago I met several people that I know I can count on when I feel sad or having problems.
My best friend is Alé, we met by accident at school five years ago. We were playing hockey and she fell and hurt one knee, I offered myself to accompany her to the nursing and after that we never stop talking.
Today I spend a really nice evening with my good friend Gonzalo, helping him to find the perfect present for his girlfriend. We walked for like three hours searching! but he is very important to me so I'm happy to do it.
